Contest now closed and in progress. Many thanks to the participants.
Despite the song title, I know Steve quite well by now that I am familiar with his singing style enough to join in as yet another musical collaboration, this time on a jazzed up arrangement of an oldies standard. Thanks for the open duet, Steve.
"You Don't Know Me" is a song written by Cindy Walker based on a title and storyline given to her by Eddy Arnold in 1955. Arnold first recorded the song in 1956, but it was Jerry Vale's version that first made it to the charts, peaking at #14. Arnold's recording followed 2 months later, reaching #10 on the country chart.
Ray Charles' version is the most well-known, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1962, The song has been performed or recorded by hundreds of artists over the years. Steve and I are doing the duet version by Ray Charles and Diana Krall, from Charles' final studio album Genius Loves Company, released posthumously in Aug 2004 (Ray passed away two months prior)
Thank you for listening.
