Hi fellow Snappers. I am Betty, the first half of BnDJohnson. The other half is my hubby and best friend, Duane.
A little about us....We have been married since 2008. We have 4 grown children between us both. 2 of those children have blessed us with 3 grand kids. Two of the grands (Kayla, age 16 and Jeremy, age 19) live with us and it has been pure joy watching them change from little kids into the wonderful young lady and young man that they have become.
We live in a small (population 4000) rural town but out in the country so I can have my critters (5 dogs, 12 goats, 1 donkey, and one cat; actually 2 cats if you count the one that comes to our house every night to eat)
Duane is retired Air Force and has worked for the Army since his retirement. He is currently deployed to Afghanistan as a DOD Civilian.
I worked in retail up until the time he and I got married and I am currently just "enjoying life". We love to fish and hunt together and sing karaoke at our local VFW.
SS has become one of my "escapes", even if it's just for one or two songs. Life can be a bit busy and hectic with a 16 and 19 year old in the house so I try to catch a little time while they are at school.
2018 has been a very trying year. In early March I was diagnosed with high BP. In May I had what the doctor called an "Ocular stroke" due to the high BP. I lost sight in my left eye. While being diagnosed with that, a CT scan picked up that I had 85% blockage in my heart and so I had a stent put in for that. The CT scan also found a small brain aneurysm. While repairing that, the neurosurgeon found that my carotid artery was blocked so a stent was put in for that as well. Thought I was on the mend but one day in early October, I just didn't feel right. Couldn't stand without nearly passing out, BP took a nose dive , I felt nauseated and sick. The next day was even worse so my daughter (who was staying with me because of all the previous problems) called 9 1 1 and I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The 911 operator couldn't believe I was still conscious because my BP had dropped to 68/54. Once at the hospital they did all sorts of tests. Blood test came back that I was extremely anemic so they had to give me 2 units of blood. After an endoscopy the doctor found a large bleeding ulcer (I didn't even realize I had anything like that because I had no stomach pains) and several smaller ulcers. He repaired the large one and I stayed in hospital for a couple of more days. I began to feel 90% better then on Halloween, I was in a car wreck (that totaled my car) which left me a little banged up and bruised but God was with me and when I was pulled out of the car he was the first one I thanked. I am hoping this was the last of my misfortunes but now you all know why I am ready to bring in the new year. GOD IS GOOD!
